Rare Breed Youth Services

We have an open volunteer orientation scheduled every Thursday at 4pm at the outreach center - 215 S. Campbell. If necessary, other times can be arranged by appointment. Volunteers must pass a background check. Prospective volunteers should bring $10 to pay for a background check, a driver's license and social security card to the orientation.

We often hire our volunteers. There are so many ways to help youth directly or to help us help youth better.
Our current volunteer needs:

Safe Place Volunteers - Help us operate a local Safe Place Program! Duties range from responding to Safe Place calls and doing Safe Place site checks to conducting Safe Place presentations in the community.
Volunteer Youth Workers - Come help us work directly with youth in our drop-in center and provide task support for the staff.
Practicums/Internships/Service Learning - We have a long history of working with area university community service programs and we have also provided practicum and internship placement opportunities for social work, sociology, nursing and criminology students from many local universities. We offer an excellent opportunity for students to experience real world, front line, Social Work and learn concrete skills that will greatly inform and enhance future professional competence in human services fields..
Administratvie Support - basic clerical, meeting scheduling, mailings, answer telephones.
Marketing Professional - we are looking for a sharp marketer to help us redo our communications and PR material.
Database Creation and Management - basic and complex database creation required for easier tracking of outcomes and contacts.
Web Design - Help us update the web page.
Group Volunteering - Our tasks for group volunteers are generally painting, deep cleaning and organizing or bringing in a premade meal for 35 to serve in the drop-in center.
Independent Fundraising and Drives - Your group can raise funds, clothes, coats or supplies and donate them. If you have a proposal or would like more information about how your group can help Rare Breed youth, please call Todd Duncan at 417-865-6400.
